I was reading a blog that I like from a very famous person and I was a bit surprised to read the following: ¿Qué blogs sigues? What blogs do you follow.... I am a faithful follower of many blogs , in special those who started at the same time I did. I like blogs that give me information, interesting images and exclusives. I do not follow the egoblogs, they bore me profoundly and I still do not understand their success. There is one that fascinates me, Miscellaneous Tidbits 5771, is without doubt one of the best!!!......gracias...thank you.

The description reads: "An album for thoughts and confessions. Originally created by Proust, inside there are a number of the questionnaires filled out by famous people and then several more for you and your infamous friends. "///you should take it and ask your friends, only than will you know!!!!

Always an elixir to start the day!!!!and a cold shower is not bad either!!!

"Shopping from your desktop? That's like so ten years ago!"
Luxury:Welcome to the future of shopping
I know what you're thinking. The title  sounds just a tad hyperbolic. It isn't. I began testing Net-A-Porter's new iPad applications just over one week ago and I can honestly say I feel like I've been given a little porthole from which I can peer into the future of shopping. In case you were wondering, the future is fast, fun and more than a little addictive and it's already here for a handful of tech-savvy followers of luxury fashion.

My Parting Shots:

La elegancia es, obviamente, una actitud con la que se nace y que no se adquiere con el dinero ni con la ropa de marca por mucho que te empeñes. He llegado a la conclusión que el mayor enemigo de la elegancia es la silicona. Elegance is obviously an attitude that one  is born with.....and it is not acquired with money or clothing brands as much as many insist... I have come to the conclusion that the greatest enemy of elegance is silicone...specially exaggerated silicone.

On television modern histories of Rome lead one to think that Romans were rather well off, enjoyed a lot of free time, and commanded the largest and most powerful Empire in the history of the world. That is, until the Americans came along. America's post WWII strategic and military dominance combined with affluence inspired comparisons to ancient Rome at its most powerful. The vision of America as a new Rome resonates. And the person most responsible for this precipitous fall is the dear leader, Barack Hussein Obama.

My Take on Japan:

Although the Japanese generally are very polite and considerate, there are times when foreigners like me might consider what they do to be rude. First of all, the Japanese love to read over a person's shoulder, and if you're typing something in Japanese on a laptop or iPad2, well, don't be surprised if a crowd gathers to read what all the interesting things this gaijin is typing -- it's just not considered rude by them. My mother taught me not to reach over people's plates when eating dinner together, but to ask for someone to pass the item to me; apparently the Japanese didn't get that memo, as it's common here to reach across the table to get what you need while eating.

One of the cuter -- or possibly nicer -- things that Japanese girls do is refer to themselves in the third person.  Usually, female children will use their own names in place of a first-person pronoun at a young age, then when they start school and begin interacting with other girls will switch to atashi, a feminine version of watashi, the most common word for "I" in Japanese, or possibly the slightly masculine-sounding boku if she's the tomboy type...but even older girls cannot get away from referring themselves in the third person.

The epitome of the male aesthete was Oscar Wilde. During his speaking tour of America, he liked to wear a velvet jacket, a flowing tie, and a wide-awake hat.

The aesthetic movement is considered to have ended with the trial of Oscar Wilde and the appearance of Art Nouveau.

Hints of Pomegranate to Perk Up Chicken
Pomegranate molasses adds a sweet-tart complexity to grilled chicken.
Middle Eastern staple, it is made from pomegranate juice simmered until nearly as thick and dark as espresso, but with even more punch. Both pickle-sour and syrupy sweet, it’s as pungent as chile paste but with the vivid bristle of tart red fruit instead of capsicum heat....one of my favorite...so Middle Eastern!!!!!!!!

“I’m feeling nostalgic for old-fashioned layer cakes this summer. They’re perfect for parties because people see one, and they instantly think of their childhood—and they know it’s going to taste extraordinary. On a hot summer day, I’d want a light and fruity cake. That said, if I see a chocolate layer cake that looks like my late French grandmother made it, I’m not going to pass it by.”

JAWS at the drive-in theater

  3. The Philadelphia Story
  4. For a Fistful of Dollars
  5. To Catch a Thief
  6. Ben Hur
  7. Wall Street
  8. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

  10. JAWS
  11. High Society
  12. A Hard Day's Night (1964)

Some Americans seem to equate Italian music with O Sole Mio and Funiculi Funicula.Meaning no disrespect to these great songs, Italy has a popular music tradition that provides strong competition to popular and rock music from other countries such as the United States and England..and I am a fan of Italian music.
I would divide Italian popular music into four different categories (that overlap to some extent)
  • Melodic music

  • Italian Rock

  • Singer-songwriters (Known as "cantautori" )

  • Their own styles

  • My Take on Japan:

What is "Romantic" to the Japanese?
The Japanese consider two people walking under an umbrella together to be quite a romantic image
A man carrying a woman in his arms might be romantic in any culture, but I like the Japanese name for it: hime-sama dakko, or carrying a woman "princess-style." Some other popular romantic images include a man eating a bento lunch his wife prepared for him (aisai bento, or "loving wife" lunch) and the simple act of a woman standing on her toes to kiss her husband (called senobi kiss).

Japan's stunning win over the U.S. in the FIFA Women's World Cup. The impromptu nickname for Japan's victorious soccer team is Nadeshiko Japan, nadeshiko being the classical word for a pure and beautiful Japanese woman. it certainly is a ray of happiness for a country who's had a rough time of things so far this year.
    Congratulations to "Nadeshiko Japan"!

A few French expressions you should learn:

    bête noire "black beast"
Similar to a pet peeve: something that is particularly distasteful or difficult and to be avoided.

    carte blanche "blank card"
Free hand, ability to do whatever you want/need

comme il faut "as it must"
The proper way, as it should be

    demimonde "half world"
In French, it's hyphenated: demi-monde. In English, there are two meanings:
    1. A marginal or disrespectful group
    2. Prostitutes and/or kept women

embarras de richesse, richesses "embarrassement of wealth/richness"
Such an overwhelming amount of good fortune that it's embarrassing or confusing (it means, fabulous, any better would be a sin)

    Voilà ! "There it is!"
Nearly every time I see this in English, it is misspelled as "voilá" or "violà."

And if you were a cheap rapper, it could mean..." Whoop that is"(smiles)

    Myth or Truth?

¿Quién no ha oído alguna vez, justo después de haber hecho una actividad física importante, la archiconocida frase "No bebas agua fría, que es malo" o la variante "No bebas agua fría, que hubo un rey que se murió por eso"?Who has never ever heard, just after having a high physical activity, the well-known phrase "Do not drink cold water, which is bad" or variant "Do not drink cold water, there was a king who died from it" ?

Miuccia Prada's collection for Miu Miu(eyewear) ...so so much talent and imagination....Signora Prada continues to amaze!!!

And by the way thanks to the Prada group for sending me an advanced copy of their second short film, 'Muta' directed by Lucrecia Martel.

All gracious hosts know how to light a room to make the guests look beautiful....!!!!

    -Marion Cotillard

"La femme française ne s'intéresse pas qu'à la mode. Elle s'intéresse aussi à la peinture, la lecture, le cinéma et l'art."
"The French woman is not just interested in fashion. She is interested in painting, reading, movies and art."

    My Parting Shots:

I received a few emails from readers trying to decipher what I posted two blogs ago in reference of what Gordon Gekko stated in the film Wall Street and I should have written in the caption " Liquid, rich enough to have your own jet....fifty a hundred million dollars...a player" ....and it was obvious from what I posted that I made the point quite eloquently about JG....sorry if it was misunderstood....

Valentino’s house is magnificent. There is no other word

    simpatico (sɪmˈpɑːtɪˌkəʊ, -ˈpæt-)
    adj
    1. pleasant or congenial
    2. of similar mind or temperament; compatible
    [Italian: from simpatia sympathy ]

Anyone who loves fashions owns a copy of D.V., Diana Vreeland’s autobiography. In the 80s, though, the legendary editor of Vogue penned Allure. It’s full of Vreeland’s signature quips and stunning photography by such fashion greats as Horst, Avedon and Beaton. The must-read has been reissued,
featuring a foreward by Marc Jacobs....it will set you back around 400 US Dollars!!!

     Rupert and Wendi Murdoch

The trait I admire the most is Loyalty.....and I got an example of it while watching the hearings being held in London about the scandal of News of the World, which is owned by the elder Rupert Murdoch......Mr Murdoch a Billionaire many times over. IS married to  a Chinese woman(Wendi Deng.....Mòduōkè Dèng Wéndí..默多克·邓文迪)..an intelligent woman much younger than him. But I stand corrected, that not only was she standing by him at the hearings but when a heckler tried to attack Mr Murdoch she leaped to his defense and physically attacked the heckler...this is loyalty and much more!!!!!

To the Best friend in her upcoming anniversary ....to an Athlete dying young....Roberta....you were the best....you are still....not forgotten, not ever.....Italia misses you  and we all do, even after so many years/////
la memoria è ancora presente ... Io non ti dimenticherò mai
