Miscellaneous Tidbits5771-JG49

I started writing this blog in Favignana, I was there for a quick business trip and I predict it will be one of the in places in the world!!!
Favignana’s harbor and the Tyrrhenian Sea beyond.

There’s a fresh breed of invaders taking root between Favignana’s gnarled olive trees. Hidden among the crumbling stone ruins are new spas, boutique hotels and restored stone villas belonging to such members of the fashion crowd as the photographer Glen Luchford and Miuccia Prada. After years of isolation, tiny Favignana, they say, is bracing for its transition from Podunk to posh. Not that you’d know it.

Finally!!!!! :-))

Mare…Profumo Di Mare…..

Mare…Profumo Di Mare….

I made a one and a half day stop in Venezia for the Mostra Internazionale....and this is a great place for hot chocolate or Macchiatos!!! and Tiramisu!!!!
In the heart of San Marco.

Hot chocolate and cappuccino at Cafe Flore, on the Piazza San Marco.

Tiramisu is the norm and without Mascarpone it is not a real Tiramisu...I rest my case!!!!!

Thanks for all the nice emails complimenting me on the way my blog is written...I will continue to try to entertain you , enlighten  you , amuse you and tell you many things you did not know!!!This is one of my best blogs....no doubt

Emmanuelle Alt is writing her own ticket for VOGUE Paris.
Vogue Paris is now an international publication, one that could advance French influence and attitudes about women’s emancipation worldwide, especially if Conde Nast would consider the unthinkable and publish it in multiple languages online.
I don’t need Emmanuelle Alt to show me women’s everyday reality; I need her to show women a way out of it, expressing with reassurance what French women know about living, loving and pushing the sensual envelope at every age – because they really do.

Supermodel Selita Ebanks's Diamond Underwear Bruised Her VadgeKarl Lagerfeld is launching a new perfume named Karleidoscope. And yes, the packaging doubles as a kaleidoscope....I got a whif of a sample and I did not like it....sorry but that is my take!!!!

An acquaintance model sent me an email with the following:
This has been my year of not caring. I feel like I've spent the past few years thinking too much about existential questions; Why are we here? What's the meaning of life? Is the universe expanding? Yes, of course it is. I need to stop reading philosophy." Or start watching Woody Allen movies...
my answer believe in YHVH...

Read from right to left (so also the following)
Top line:
YHVH Yisrael Shmaa <{-------

Bottom line:

Paris Hilton reads Sun Tzu's The Art of War
Paris Hilton studies up - maybe it will help her with decisions.
"If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle" Sun Tzu

Portrait of Michelangelo
Portrait of Michelangelo (after 1535) by Jacopino del Conte.
This portrait hints at Michelangelo's brooding temperament.

going back as far as Michelangelo or even as far back as Greek sculpture artists have had an influence on me.  Also many of the filmakers of the 30s-40s-50s but there hasn't been any thing lately that inspires me.

Raw. Defining raw is not a simple task. Even from a linguistic point of view, there are so many versions of it. But there is one common thread between all applied versions of the term.

Raw is anything that has not been manipulated (yet) either intentionally or not. In our society of supposed perfectionism, we tend to expect “final” and polished products. I am not referring to consumer items only, but to all things produced. Emotions are produced as well. They may be the most produced item in the world today. Maybe because they are free. The problem is that we no longer make the connection between the result (emotions) and their triggers (anything that generates emotions, therefore ALL our activities).

I've always loved model Marisa Berenson. She seems like the only one who made it out of the 1970's and Studio 54 in one piece. I just got her upcoming book Marisa Berenson: A Life in Pictures. It will be released to the public on October 11, 2011

"Factor" producer Jesse Watters was in the Hamptons this past week for a Bridgehampton Polo Club event sponsored by the corporate jetliner Blue Star. Russell Simmons, an ardent Obama supporter, was in attendance enjoying the festivities and was wearing an interesting accessory: a Blue Star baseball cap.

El judaísmo es la única religión del mundo que no tiene un templo de referencia, así que a los judíos no les queda más remedio que lamentarlo ante las ruinas de lo que fuera el Gran Tabernáculo del pueblo de Judá. Judaism is the only religion in the world that has no temple of reference , so us Jews we have no other alternative but to pray in front of the ruins of the great tabernacle of the city of Juda....but it is more symbolic than any temple or church. in the world..!!!!
What better shul to hop than the synagogue of all synagogues: the Wailing Wall? This home to Conservative, Orthodox, Chasidic, Secular, Reconstructionist, Reform, Lgbt, Yeshivish, religious Zionist, Charedi, Breslov, Lubavitch, Neturei Karta, Karlin Stalin Jews, just to name a few, acts as the great religious equalizer. (At some point this proliferation of labels both impresses and depresses my soul.)  Here denominations do not fall away, they just matter less, if only for a minute or five. I come here some Friday nights.Though I’m a kotel veteran, seeing the wall and experiencing the service through the eyes of  first time kotel visitors changes everything. The wall turns into a no cynicism zone. It freezes me, imposes genuine feelings, and forces me to confront what I want to give to this world. The kotel purifies against your will. The air tastes sweet and heavy with the groans of history. It evokes the whole panoply of emotions.

 My Take on Japan:

Japan is the land of the "boom," and you never know what will become popular next. One year all the girls might start wearing horn-rim glasses for no reason, followed by people taking an interest in exotic pets like ferrets, then strange Japanese ASCII art starts showing up on various products. Food trends come out of nowhere, too, like the year everyone was standing in line for hours to buy crepes, or the Great Krispy Kreme doughnut boom of 2006. Recently there's been a lot of buzz about B-kyu gurume or "B-grade gourmet," which refers to everyday, down-to-earth foods that aren't fancy, yet which can be really delicious...foods like sauce katsudon (pork cutlet cooked in sauce over rice), oden (a traditional stew of vegetables and fish), or yakisoba (Japan's version of Chinese chow mein).

Bowing, is a very big deal in Japan something that's done several times a day. There are many kinds of bows, from the casual 15-degree nod you'd make to a coworker or neighbor to the deeper (30-degree) bow of thanks you'd do when accepting your salary envelope from your boss, or the more formal (45-degree) bow made to a customer in a service industry. One bow is chorei (lit. "morning bow"), a brief formal meeting where the employees stand in a circle and basically promises to gambaru, or do their best and work hard, followed by  a deep bow.

Karl Marx
Marx was wrong because his model society, of human behavior, was wrong.

The truth of a thing is in the feel of it, not the think of it.
We live in a time where the think is perceived and weight more important than the feel.

I got an advanced copy of this Pedro Almodovar film and it is not bad....entertaining to a
certain extent!!!

Ever since his wife was burned in a car crash, Dr. Robert Ledgard, an eminent plastic surgeon, has been interested in creating a new skin with which he could have saved her. After twelve years, he manages to cultivate a skin that is a real shield against every assault.

In addition to years of study and experimentation, Robert needed three more things: no scruples, an accomplice and a human guinea pig. Scruples were never a problem. Marilia, the woman who looked after him from the day

Goldman Sachs Has a Fancy New Website
The much-maligned investment bank got an Internet makeover that includes a glossy "get to know us" section called Our People, and you wouldn't believe it, but employees have really nice things to say about the company. There's also a "where do I fit in?" multiple-choice quiz ..take the quiz and see how you do????

... eleganza... raffinatezza .... di lusso

As the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression swept the globe in October, the high-end Italian clothier Brioni introduced the most expensive line of men's suits in its history. Made to measure from rare fibers such as vicuna, pashmina, shatoosh and Qiviuk, the suits have price tags as high as $43,000....and they are worth it....

Technology has been terrible for traditional businesses. I want to go buy a book at the bookstore and see a movie at the movie house, not download them on the Internet. There is only one HMV music store left in London. This is one of my great sadnesses.///but I do accept the advantages of technology but sometimes the traditional is great too!!!!!it
