I LIVE THE LIFE I LOVE. I LOVE THE LIFE I LOVE. WELCOME TO MY DIARY OF CHIC

If you read this blog than you are aware of my admiration for Prof. Dr Ivo Pitanguy....
and sadly Dr. Ivo one of the world's top plastic surgeons who helped make Brasil a popular destination for the rich and famous to get work done, died on Saturday. He was in his 90s.....the GOLDSTEINS were constant visitors to his clinic in Botafogo over the years.

HERE IS MY TRIBUTE

Ivo Pitanguy is famous throughout the world, but in his native Brasil he’s a legend, eclipsed in public recognition only by Pelé, the soccer god. That a plastic surgeon could reach this level of renown says something about the Brasilian worship of physical beauty and, of course, Pitanguy’s knack with the knife, for which he’s been dubbed “the Michelangelo of the scalpel.” But the doctor clearly possesses other, more subtle qualities as well. “Pitanguiser,” a word coined in the local Portuguese dialect, translates as “human charisma, intelligence and compassion.” In our harshly clinical Nip/Tuck culture, Pitanguy has said he sees his business as “the search for harmony between body and soul.”

THE GINGHAM DRESS

From Miu Miu to the tablecloth at your local pizzeria, gingham sure does get around! It’s super classic and almost always appropriate (did you know Brigitte Bardot got married in a gingham dress?) but if done wrong you are at risk of looking like Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz.

Not because they are my biggest sponsor but I do love this dresses....chic and sexy

JG MUSINGS

The Hebrew language has many magnificent words that simply don’t hold the same greatness when translated to English. Here some of my favorite ones.....

NESHAMA (נשמה)

A word used similarly to “sweetie” but it literally meaning “soul.” People say “neshama sheli” which means “my soul.” It is used often to both men and women. It is like saying you are so important to me that you are part of my soul.

ANI META ALECHA (אני מתה עליך)

“I’m dead about you,” similar to saying “I’m crazy about you”.

CHAVAL AL HAZMAN (חבל אל הזמן)

This phrase translates to “shame on the time.” It is used when referring to an amazing experience. It is like saying you could only wish for more time.

Life is full of beauty

Beautiful.. She was  wearing blue Ulyana Sergeenko couture blouse ensemble from the Spring 2013 couture collection. Simple and elegant as always, blue diamond ring and earrings completed the look

Handmade, very delicate lace. So beautiful for any piece of clothing, but more popular with lingerie of course.

I guess there is lace, and then there is very expensive and carefully crafted lace which makeswomen feel like a walking piece of luxury when wearing it. Ahhhh…. LOVE IT!

Russian Dolls.

I liked a lot this playful and colorful photo montage. It features world famous Russian “It-Girls”: Miroslava Duma, Elena Perminova, Vika Gazinskaya and Natalya Goldenberg in this ironic yet glamorous set up.

Is this a sign announcing a new fashion era? An era when fashion capitals move East, migrating all the way to Moscow and up to Shanghai. Fashion designers pay more and more attention to new markets, what is especially visible when it comes to China. One thing is almost certain, more changes are yet to be seen. Maybe fashion czarinas are back for good.

a little take on Japan-日本,

Freud's triparite division of the pysche into the super-ego ("over I"), ego ("I") and Id ("it"), translated into Japanese.

I believe that this tripartite division of the self applies to the Japanese too, but some (e.g. Kishida Shu) believe that the Japanese do not have a superego. Not being a monotheistic society, and being instead collectivists, the Japanese equivalent of the super-ego is other people. Instead of guilt (or fear of god 対神恐怖症) the Japanese have social phobia (fear of other people 対人恐怖症).

BEAUTY

A face lift, when done correctly, should:
1. Allow for patient recover with little or no discomfort/pain
2. Not require patient to wear a bandage after the first day.
3. Require only minimal incisions, which should be virtually undetectable, once healed
4. Pose minimal risk.Risks are greatly reduced through the use of an experienced, Board certified surgeon and surgical staff, including a Board certified anesthesiologist.(and done with local anesthesia)
5. Allow patient to wash hair on day 1, walk outside day 2 and be able to drive and resume exercise in a week.*
6. Be long-lasting.
7. Look natural.
8. Eliminate jowls to reveal a perfect neckline and neck.Again, this is the tip off area many doctors don’t spend enough time on. The neckline should be smooth but not look pulled or unnatural.
9. Incorporate fat grafting when needed to address the fat loss that occurs with age.
10. Be performed by a world-renowned surgeon.

plastic surgery (facelift)  is to restore a more youthful face but more important is to have a Dr give your face a natural appearance, not a pulled and stretched tunnel look.

MY PARTING SHOTS

Style Tip: Go Monochrome

When in fashion doubt, go monochrome.
One of the best and easiest style tips is to wear one colour or shades of one colour from top to toe.

Monochrome is always a strong fall back position.
The reason I wear monochrome most of the time is not only is it an easy solution but also it is figure flattering as it lengthens and trims the body.

"   In character, in manners, in style, in all things, the supreme excellence is simplicity.   "

Before she worked with Avedon, or was the iconic face of the Blow-Up 60s, Veruschka, née Vera von Lehndorff, was an art student from East Prussia. She became the legendary model after working with the late photographer Jonny Moncada early in her career. They did thousands of pictures together, most sealed in a trunk for the past 40 years. Now, Moncada’s daughter has published many of the images in Veruschka: From Vera to Veruschka (Rizzoli).

The quick fix

So there is one product that you should not  live without for the moment, and that is this  Quick Fix - the Thickening Spray from Bumble and Bumble. This spray makes it possible to create almost anything with your hair. Put it in when your hair is wet and blow it out, and this spray will give your hair a waxy finish either for a slick back look or a messy one. And don’t worry about getting fuzzy hair, this one brushes out totally fine.

As for my advice, if you want to live a tranquil life, don’t buy a château. But if you want to have an extravagant life — one that will bring you joy others won’t have — restore a château. There’s a phrase of Talleyrand: “No one who did not live through the last years of the Ancien Régime can ever know how sweet life can be.” –
