Ulyana Sergeenko  always had an eye for beautiful things. Originally from Ust-Kamenogorsk, a small, poor town in Kazakhstan, Ulyana was raised in a family of linguists. Often she cites literature as another one of her great inspirations. I believe it!! She has done collections in the past where model’s walked out of a giant storybook and out and onto the runway, featuring Gone With The Wind and other American literature classics. While growing up her style icons were Bridget Bardot, Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren, and Ava Gardner. She was a rule breaker when it came to disregarding her schools strict uniform dress code. And her grandmother would always make sure she would have beautiful outfits, by making them herself. So does it really seem all that surprising that the Red Queen (another nickname she has acquired) became a successful designer?

I take my inspiration from old movie stars, from old movies, from Soviet cartoons, sometimes even cartoon heroes. I adore Ava Gardner, I love Sophia Loren, I love Brigitte Bardot, of course. Grace Kelly. And a lot of Soviet names, which I think you don’t know. Soviet culture is not so popular.- Ulyana On being asked about her style icons.

 learning Japanese isn't fundamentally harder than any other language, some areas seem difficult for foreigners, like the way Japanese people write kanji for each other by drawing the character in the air -- my brain just isn't equipped to process invisible finger strokes like that. Also, the Japanese like to attach sounds to numbers, for example 084 becomes ohayo (good morning), 3476 is sayonara (goodbye) and 39 is san-kyu (thank you).

Many ask me what is the difference between Miss World and Miss Universe.

Miss World is a beauty pageant where girls are younger (17~ 23 of age) and have a natural aura. They must:
look fresh (no surgeries).
be very elegant and outspoken.
be very involved in charity back home. It is a must because all their work as Miss World will be attending charity events around the world for a year.

Miss Universe is more focused on sexiness. Delegates must have a huge personality, be outstanding, louder, they are pre-judged in a bikini standing in front of a panel of judges inside a closed-room and later on on stage twice.

The bikini portion at Miss World has been removed as the work as Miss World is based on intelligence and compassion and not on body appearance.

But facial beauty is VERY important at Miss World, as the winners each year have a barbie doll face with a very gentle personality.
