Will the tech leaders of today be the has-beens of tomorrow?

Apple, Google, Facebook and Amazon hold dominant positions in the tech sector and have been among the biggest engines driving the Nasdaq above the 5,000 mark this week for the first time since 2000. But analysts are far from confident that they will maintain their perch in the tech stratosphere.

If Anna Wintour put Kim Kardashian on the cover of Vogue, no one is more deserving than the woman that is the epitome of elegance, Sheikha Mozah.....I rest my case.........

“I have always believed that fashion was not only to make women more beautiful, but also to reassure them, give them confidence.” It is incredible how much a correct outfit and adequate garment can affect a women’s attitude.

Seven things Karl Lagerfeld doesn’t like

Should you ever have the pleasure of his company

Heads up, no selfies.
Opinions, unless asked…
“There are not too many people with an opinion I care for.”
Particularly, men’s opinions on fashion...
“I’m not crazy to discuss fashion with men. I couldn’t care less about their opinion.”
“I don’t believe in it. It’s a job, one should not become hysterical.”
The past…
“This is one of the sicknesses of our period, to look back. No, forget about it. Fashion is now and tomorrow. Who cares about the past?”
On that note, retrospectives and archives…
“In Germany, they made a huge exhibition of everything I did, Fendi, Chanel, Lagerfeld, Chloé and all that. I’m not even going to the show. I don’t care… I don’t even have archives, myself. I keep nothing…Lots of my colleagues, they have archives, they look at their dresses like they were Rembrandts!”
The word ‘artist’…
“I’m a designer, I do photos, I do books, I’m a publisher, but I don’t have the self-proclaimed label “artist.” I hate that. Very pretentious. If other people say it, it’s very flattering, but if you start to say it yourself, you better forget about it.”

“I don’t do selfies. But other people do, and they all want to do selfies with me. No, no, no. Thank God, Sébastien, my assistant, he’s mean to the people in the street, mean and rude. I’m a nice person.”

Ulyana Sergeenko  always had an eye for beautiful things. Originally from Ust-Kamenogorsk, a small, poor town in Kazakhstan, Ulyana was raised in a family of linguists. Often she cites literature as another one of her great inspirations. I believe it!! She has done collections in the past where model’s walked out of a giant storybook and out and onto the runway, featuring Gone With The Wind and other American literature classics. While growing up her style icons were Bridget Bardot, Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren, and Ava Gardner. She was a rule breaker when it came to disregarding her schools strict uniform dress code. And her grandmother would always make sure she would have beautiful outfits, by making them herself. So does it really seem all that surprising that the Red Queen (another nickname she has acquired) became a successful designer?

I take my inspiration from old movie stars, from old movies, from Soviet cartoons, sometimes even cartoon heroes. I adore Ava Gardner, I love Sophia Loren, I love Brigitte Bardot, of course. Grace Kelly. And a lot of Soviet names, which I think you don’t know. Soviet culture is not so popular.- Ulyana On being asked about her style icons.

a little take on Japan-日本,

learning Japanese isn't fundamentally harder than any other language, some areas seem difficult for foreigners, like the way Japanese people write kanji for each other by drawing the character in the air -- my brain just isn't equipped to process invisible finger strokes like that. Also, the Japanese like to attach sounds to numbers, for example 084 becomes ohayo (good morning), 3476 is sayonara (goodbye) and 39 is san-kyu (thank you).

Japan is a unique country in the way that traditional architecture, clothing and other elements of daily life exist side-by-side with their Western equivalents, and these differences are baked right into the language. The most common word for "clothing" in Japanese is yohfuku, which literally means "Western clothing" like shirts and slacks and business suits, while traditional Japanese clothing like kimono and yukata are covered under the term wafuku ("Japanese clothing"), a totally different category altogether.

Japanese who all look the same but are かわいい  (Kawaii) in their own way.

The difference between skin age and actual age.

If you've ever wondered what the age of your skin is, there's a new - and free - online tool that has been devised by Australian dermatologists that will tell you in 15 minutes.
What this means is that despite your chronological age, the 'age' of your skin can differ depending on genetics and your lifestyle.
It works by zeroing in on your skin's elements that show signs of ageing: the surface (so think pores, pigmentation, sunspots and acne), volume (sagging and lips) and wrinkles (self-explanatory, for the most part). For the back-end of the program, it relies on decades of research into the ageing process of the skin.
The tool will go beyond just identifying your skin’s age. It analyses which problems or concerns, if treated, will make the biggest effect to the skin's appearance and health, and puts you in touch with a reputable medical skin clinic in the local area who can recommend tailored treatments based on the results.

Here's how to tell how old your skin really is

HH Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned

Beautiful Sheikha Mozah met supermodel/French First Lady Carla Bruni at Versailles Palace in 2008. Sheikha Mozah looked absolutely chic in Chanel couture ensemble, I like the color combination of this Chanel piece.

Sheikha Mozah was looking perfect in Ulyana Sergeenko couture dress. She had the blouse in red and green skirt with pockets. Fabulous and feminine.

Emirati Women: Generations of Change (Columbia/Hurst)

Love these girls! They are fresh, cute and bubbly. The new models are just a lot of fun lately and they dress so well .
I always tell aspiring models when they meet me, that unfortunately in the world of modeling today, you get a higher chance to be chosen by agencies or clients, when your parents are already famous, because you get more followers on social medias and it is a huge factor to who gets the biggest campaign deals.

Gigi's mom was a supermodel and is on a TV reality show since today.
Kendal we all know that she grew up in front of cameras and that her family is a huge machine at feeding medias.

I am not trying to discourage anyone, I am just speaking the truth

In Lee, Lee Radziwill's new book, you can get an intimate glimpse into the life of one of the most famous style icons of the 20th century. Radziwill, the sister of Jackie Kennedy, married a prince, travelled the world, and was friends with some of the most iconic figures of the past century. Radziwill is usually fiercely private, but in her book she shares personal pictures, letters and anecdotes about the people and places that shaped her life. Lee ($50, assouline.com) is a follow up to her first tome Happy Times, and we are already hoping for a third book. The woman who was muse to Truman Capote, Rudolf Nureyev and Giorgio Armani (her decades-long friendship with him was detailed in our November issue) likely has many more stories to share.

And I loved how Benjamin Netanyahu Israel's Prime Minister. quoted the poet Robert Frost at his speech to the US Congress.........

You don’t have to read Robert Frost to know. You have to live life to know that the difficult path is usually the one less traveled, but it will make all the difference" for the future of my country, the security of the Middle East and the peace of the world, the peace, we all desire.

And I, I too took the road less traveled and it has made all the difference.........

So the Light Answers”- A Very Special Hanukkah Menorah

On Hanukkah 1932, just prior to the elections that would bring Hitler to power, Rachel Posner, wife of Rabbi Dr. Akiva Posner, took this photo of the family Hanukkah menorah from the window ledge of the family home looking out on to the building across the road decorated with Nazi flags.

On the back of the photograph, Rachel Posner wrote in German (translated here):
Hanukkah 5692 (1932)“Death to Judah”
So the flag says
“Judah will live forever”
So the light answers

The Maccabeats sing ‘All About That Neis.
Happy Hanukkah!  We celebrate the survival of Judaism during a time when the sophisticated, educated elite tried to sell us the idea that our faith was outdated and unnecessary, and if we persisted in practicing it, they’d kill us.
